Britax Römer Acquires German/Danish Pushchair Brand Seed

Leipheim, Germany – 29.08.2017 – Britax Römer, leader in child safety and mobility, has purchased German/ Danish pushchair manufacturer Seed. The acquisition is effective September 1 and will include the company’s entire portfolio. Seed is a popular, premium lifestyle brand on the German market and its products will round out Britax Römer’s growing, stylish pushchair offering.

Seed is especially well-known for the beautiful, Danish-designed “Papilio“ product that can be folded down to a flat surface area small enough to fit into the trunks of little cars such a Mini, Smart or Fiat 500. The company was launched in 2007 by a Danish film producer and four-time father who was looking for a pushchair that provided maximum mobility without compromising on design or quality.

“Pushchairs are an important category for us and a segment in which we have a long-standing tradition. We are excited to add Seed’s high-quality products to our Premium Line range,” said Rainer Stäbler, Managing Director EMEA, Britax Römer. “Its flagship-product Papilio is particularly well-suited to the design and quality for which Britax Römer is known.”

The Seed Papilio will be integrated into Britax Römer’s Premium Line product portfolio. This is not the first successful acquisition for Britax Römer. In 2013, the company acquired the BRIO pushchair business and since then has successfully secured two Stiftung Warentest test winners with the BRITAX GO in 2015 and the BRITAX GO BIG in 2017.
